Community Ambulance Service, Inc. (CAS) has been serving Venango County since 1967. Commitment to our community has been the focus since our inception. We started out with 1 Cadillac Ambulance in 1967, now we have a fleet of 7 ambulances and 5 wheelchair vans and an Advanced Life Support Squad. Paramedic level pre-hospital emergency care in Venango County started in 1989, which allowed our paramedics to provide a higher level of critical care to those that become sick or injured.
We are licensed through the Pennsylvania Department of Health as an Advanced Life Support Ambulance Service, and we hold a license through the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission. Community Ambulance Service is a not-for-profit agency governed by a 9 member volunteer board of directors. We do offer a subscription program and we are a United Way Agency Member. Our employees are highly dedicated and are proud to serve the residents and visitors of Venango County. We have three station locations within Venango County. They are in Franklin, Cranberry and Oil City.
CAS has been very instrumental with the progression of pre-hospital emergency medicine within Venango County. Our goal is to provide the highest level of pre-hospital care to the residents and visitors of Venango County. We have an extensive quality assurance program and a comprehensive vehicle maintenance program in place. We also provide Paramedic and EMT precepting for new employees and we perform hundreds of hours of community service annually. We provide educational classes in Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), First Aid, Automated External Defibrillation (AED), EMT Training, ambulance tours and public talks. We support community events such as Oil Heritage Week, Applefest, First Night, Rocky Grove Firemen’s Fair, Venango Regional Airshow, Special Olympics, Easter Seals and the American Heart Association and Venango County 4-H to name a few.
We support our local schools with Programs such as Dare-to-Care, a program designed for driver’s education class that focuses on what to do if you come upon a motor vehicle accident. We instruct CPR and we provide an in-depth Driving Under the Influence program, which consists of a mock vehicle accident involving injury and death. This program focuses on the choices you make.
